Taking a Time-Out with Cooling-Off
If you just want a few days away, the cooling-off limit is the quickest tool. You find it in the same Gambling Limits tab as the deposit limit, listed as Cooling off.
The casino's own wording is simple: you set a cooling-off limit for a period you choose, and it takes effect instantly. During that time you cannot deposit or play, and you are excluded from all advertising offers, so bonus emails stop tempting you back. When the period ends, an email confirms that your account is active again.
You can still log in while a cooling-off period runs, which is handy if you want to check your balance or history. If you try to deposit, the cashier shows a "Cooling-off period enabled" message instead of taking the payment.

The timing works in your favour: extending a break is accepted at once, while shortening or cancelling it waits 24 hours. That delay is deliberate. It gives you a full day to sleep on the decision before the casino reopens.
Reality Check for shorter pauses
Not every break needs a lock. The Reality Check tab in your profile sets a notification at a time interval you select, and you choose how it reaches you. When it fires, the notification:
- Pauses the game so the reels or the table stop mid-session.
- Shows your time played for the current session.
- Lists wins and losses for that period, in plain numbers.
- Asks you to confirm you read it, then offers Continue the game or Logout.
How to Set Nine Casino Deposit Limits
A deposit limit caps how much you can add to your account per day, week or month. It is the one tool we suggest every player sets on day one, before the first bonus.
- Open your profile: log in and open your user profile.
- Choose Gambling Limits: it is one of the profile tabs, alongside General, Security, Statistics, Self Exclusion, Reality Check and Account Closure.
- Pick Deposit Limits: press Add limits, select Deposit Limits and choose Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
- Enter the amount in C$: type the figure, press Set Limit and confirm in the pop-up.
- Check the cashier: next time you deposit, the cashier shows "Your remaining limits" for each period you set.
You can stack the periods, for example C$40 a day, C$100 a week and C$300 a month, and the tightest one wins. Once a limit is exceeded, Nine Casino sends an email notification. The support FAQ adds that deposit limits can also be reached from the personal settings section of the cashier.
Changing or removing a limit: the 24-hour rule
The rules are printed right inside the tab. Reducing a limit is accepted immediately. Any request to increase or remove it does not take effect for 24 hours, and the tab shows the date and time when the new value will apply. Once that wait ends, a "Confirm changing the limits in your profile" prompt may appear, and the change goes live after you confirm it.
Two details worth knowing. If you start a removal and then think better of it, Restore limit cancels the pending removal. And a deposit limit of C$0 is not a quiet setting: the tab warns that it blocks your account for 6 months, so keep it for a long, firm break.

The session limit is set in minutes instead, and when you hit it you are logged out automatically.
Self-Exclusion for Longer Breaks
Self-exclusion is the strongest tool on the site: while it runs, you cannot log in at all. It has its own Self Exclusion tab, and the Gambling Limits tab also offers a self-exclusion limit for a definite or an indefinite period.
The process is automated and confirmed by email, so nobody has to talk you through it. The "About Self-Exclusion" panel describes the steps like this:
- Request it: press Request self-exclusion. Confirmation instructions arrive by email.
- Start the cooling-off step: the email offers a 24-hour Cooling-Off period, during which you can log in but cannot place bets.
- Pick the length: after those 24 hours you can extend into self-exclusion for one day, a week, half a year or permanently, again confirmed through the email link.
- Account blocked: once self-exclusion is active, the account is blocked and you cannot log in.
Confirm the email link within 24 hours of the request. If you do not activate a self-exclusion period within 24 hours after the cooling-off ends, the account unlocks automatically and you can request a new cooling-off period.
Before you confirm
The tab is clear that any decision made there is final and non-reversible. Withdraw your remaining balance first, then submit the request. If you are unsure about the length, a cooling-off limit or a lower deposit limit is the softer first step.
How to Close Your Account
The Account Closure tab in your profile says it plainly: if you wish to close your account, contact Support. Closure requests are handled through the 24/7 live chat.
- Withdraw first: cash out any real-money balance and wait for the payout to land.
- Turn off promos: in your profile, switch off the promo subscriptions, such as promos by SMS, so offers stop while the request is processed.
- Open live chat: say you want to close the account and give the reason.
- Keep the confirmation: save the chat transcript or the confirmation email for your records.
Closing and self-excluding are not the same thing. Closure ends an account you no longer need. If the reason is gambling getting out of hand, tell the agent that, or use self-exclusion, because it is designed to keep you out for the whole period you choose. What to Do If a Limit Did Not Work
Most "it didn't work" moments come down to the 24-hour rule or a confirmation step that was skipped. These are the usual cases and their fixes.
My higher limit is not active
Increases wait 24 hours. Check the tab for the "New value will be applied at" time, and when it passes, open your profile and confirm the change if the casino asks you to.
My deposit was declined
Look at the message. "Deposit limit exceeded" or "Cooling-off period enabled" means your own limit is doing its job. "Payment method daily limit" is the payment provider's cap, so a different method may work.
No self-exclusion email
Check spam, then start a New Self-Exclusion Request. The link must be used within 24 hours, so an older email may have expired. Live chat can confirm the status.
I removed a limit by mistake
A removal waits 24 hours, and during that time Restore limit cancels it. Your limit stays exactly as it was.
If anything still looks wrong, open live chat from the site and ask the agent to check your limits. Limits work best with a second layer outside the casino too: ask your bank whether it can block gambling transactions on your card, and keep your budget in a separate account.
